Jewelry by Kate Spade? Seriously?

Seems like everyone from JCrew to Rachel Zoe is jumping on the jewelry bandwagon. However I never thought I would be viewing creations from the likes of Kate Spade. The Hampton-esque designer has handbags, shoes, sunglasses and stationary on her resume so it shouldn't be too surprising that jewelry is added to that list. I was excited and apprehensive at the same time until I saw that some of the items are quite attractive. Her prices don't seem to go beyond $245.Being an obscene-lover of the cocktail ring, I was happy to see that she had a few for my liking. Maybe I'll pick one up...or two. ;)

Good Trends

Don't let the platforms scare you. I never thought I would be a fan until I tried them on the with right jeans. There are many fashion forward classy pairs out there that won't make you feel like you have to work at the Foxy Lady to wear. These below by Sergio Rossi are stunning and you can get them at Nordstrom.
The vibrant structured bag...the most coveted this season and this color is fabu! B.Makowsky has got it right with this one. And is available in even more colors!
One of this season's best trends is back yet again. The flat gladiator...you can never have too many of these. And yours' truly has a lot... This one is by Steve Madden which you can find everywhere.

Want attention? Go bold with the accessories this season. There is nothing like a fruit salad colored handbag to make your spring wardrobe pop. I was never one to love Dooney & Burke but this style caught my attention.

Where the dress is perfect but the shoe doesn't fit

This weekend I attended an event in Boston that was full of wonderful people. Excellent ensembles and gorgeous faces graced this art gallery as if it was a Oscar luncheon. Though many of the female attendee's had on phenominal dresses and gowns, there was on thing that didn't quite work well on all of them. The most important aspect of a woman's ensemble...the shoes.

When wearing a cocktail dress it's even more important to pay close attention to your shoes. Your legs are being shown and you have the perfect opportunity to stun partygoer's with your choice of heels. I saw spectacular dresses that were paired with shoes which were completely mismatched! Think balance when you go down this road; if you are wearing an strapless or sleeveless dress, make sure the shoe has some open aspect to it. For example a peep toe, open toe or slingback. I am not a fan of stockings in the least however if you need to wear them (since some people do) than make sure they are the color of your skin and not shimmery. Pu-leeze.

Also, one major shoe mistake that I believe the best of us have made. If you are wearing a dress that is cocktail legth, do not wear ankle straps. This does nothing but shorten you and messes up the line completely. A perfect slingback or pump will do. :)
